Weekly Summer Email
June 21st – 25th, 2021
Greetings, families, and welcome to summer at Prince William Academy! Over the next 8 weeks, we’ll feature a summer enrichment program and camp for our K-middle school students, and summer fun in our preschool. We are delighted to have you with us! You’ll receive a newsletter every Friday evening, and it will contain important information for the week ahead, as well as pictures from preschool and camp.
Below you’ll find some important information about our Summer Enrichment Program:
According to VA regulations, all children ages 5 and up must wear a mask at school and camp. Teachers and school staff must also wear a mask at all times indoors, regardless of vaccination status. We ask that you send your children to school and camp wearing a mask, and with an extra in their bag.
Each morning, our elementary and middle students will work on enrichment and advancement in language arts and math. In the afternoons, we’ll have water play (every Monday) and field trips (grades 1 and above), arts and crafts, cooking projects, and lots of fun on our playground and in our gym. Our preschoolers will also follow our themes, and will have water days as well. You child’s teacher will let you know which days those will be.
Our camp calendars will be included below, and in the email each week. Please note that activities are subject to change, depending on weather and health conditions. We’ve changed our theme for next week to Stars and Stripes so that our Virginia theme will coincide with a field trip to Rippon Lodge during the week of July 5th. We’ve also opted for a field trip a little closer to home next week, and students in grades 1 and above will visit Occoquan Regional Park for a picnic and games rather than Manassas Battlefield.
Each week, you’ll find our lunch menu below, as well as our lunch packet. Lunches should be purchased in advance, and may be purchased in quantities from 5 lunches to the full month. For elementary and middle students, tuition is due each Monday for the week, and lunches may be paid at that time as well. Payment can be made through automatic withdrawal or by check or credit/debit card.
Drop off time for preschool remains the same as always–8:30 am. However, preschoolers may now be dropped off at the front door! Pickup time is 3:00 pm, also at the front door.
Drop off for our elementary and middle campers is at 9 am at the side door. You’ll see an attendant there between 9 and 9:15 am. Pickup for our campers is 4:00 pm. After 4:15, we close the door and late campers go to after care. After care campers may be picked up at the front door, or from the playground if they are outside.

We are always happy to hear from you.
We had a great time this week as our students got to know their teachers and camp-mates. Our students in K and up enjoyed an art camp with our fabulous art teacher, Stephanie Cox, and they tie-dyed pillow cases today to take home. Please be sure to hang them to dry completely, and then wash them before first use. They turned out beautifully! Meanwhile, our preschoolers moved up to their rising levels and already seem more grown up than they did just last week! They did a terrific job with the transition, and so did our teachers. And all our students got to enjoy a bouncy house on Thursday!
Each weekly newsletter will include pictures from our activities. We included some great ones below!
Thank you for entrusting us with your children this summer. We look forward to having lots of fun together!
Monday is Water Play Day for our campers! Please be sure to send them to school with a bathing suit, towel, and shoes that can get wet. Don’t forget to include a wet bag to send their items home in! Please label all items with your child’s name.
Please be advised that in order to administer sunscreen, we must have written permission from a parent. You’ll find the form below.
Our current lunch menu and lunch packets can always be found in the buttons at the end of each weekly email. The lunch menu is also directly below.
If you send your child to school with lunch, please remember that we are an entirely nut-free school.
