Weekly Summer Email
August 8th – 13th, 2021
Wow, was it ever hot this week! We managed some water play with our students, but stayed mostly in the shade and indoors to avoid those heat indexes above 100 degrees. Instead of a regular field trip, we enjoyed a visit from the snow cone truck on Wednesday, and everyone got to enjoy a nice cold treat.
Camp continues next week for our friends joining us from public schools, and we’re delighted to share their company until they head back to school on the 23rd. We look forward to having many of our campers back for before and after-school care!
For our PWA students, this was the final week of camp, and school starts here on Monday! We’re grateful to all our school families who make us their home year-round. We’ve had a great summer together, and we’re so excited for the 2021-2022 school year.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Did you know that PWA offers before and after-school care for area public school students? Starting August 23rd, care will be available for children from other schools from 7:00 am before school, and until 6:00 pm after school. Students can take the bus to and from Lake Ridge Elementary or Middle Schools from our campus. Students from other area schools (including Rockledge, Springwoods, Old Bridge, and Antietam) can catch a ride to and from school on our own buses. Please email our admissions director, Amanda Smyth (mailto:asmyth@princewilliamacademy.com?subject=Before%20and%20After%20Care) , for more information.
It was wonderful to see so many of you during our Zoom orientation! In case you missed it, here are a few important things to remember about the upcoming school year, which starts Monday, August 16th.
While we will be returning to some normalcy at school–specials will be in the building again, and students will eat in the cafeteria–we will be maintaining many of the safety protocols we put in place last year. Masks are now mandatory by state regulation for all children ages 2 and above, and no one other than students and staff will be allowed in the building except under special circumstances. Our protocols were a big part of a successful 2020-2021 school year, and we will stay vigilant so that we can safely remain open for our students and school families.
Along with expanding enrollment, we’re growing our team of teachers and administrators. Incoming parents will soon meet our talented team of teachers. We’re also joined this year by Mr. Raymel Menefee, who has come on board as our Director. Mr. Menefee brings with him years of experience as an administrator, principal, regional director, and teacher, and is already a wonderful addition to our admin team. If you see him around at drop-off or dismissal, be sure to say hello! We’re delighted to have him with us.
