This week, our students stayed a little closer to PWA and took a field trip to beautiful Lake Ridge Park, where they had a picnic lunch, hiked, and played outdoors. The weather was wonderful this week!

Unfortunately, it won’t be quite so cooperative next week, with temps in the high 90s expected. Instead of a trip to Forest Park, we will opt for cooler activities here at the school–including a visit from a snow cone truck!

Next week’s theme is All About Nature, and we’ll learn about animals, weather, plants, and habitats. We’ll also go on a nature scavenger hunt!

Only a couple of weeks remain until the start of the school year! For students attending PWA, the first day is August 16th. For those attending other schools, we’ll have one more week of camp from August 16th – 20th.

If you are interested in registering your child at PWA for the fall, you’ll find information below. We offer small class sizes (no more than 15 students in elementary classes) and individualized academics. Our enrollment is growing fast as school approaches, so if you’d like to enroll now is a good time!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

School starts at PWA on August 16th! We are gearing up for a truly extraordinary and exciting year. Enrollment has been increasing steadily, and our elementary/middle school will start the year off with 100 students! We still have some space left, so if you’re interested in enrolling your child, please give us a call.

We’ll hold a parent orientation via Zoom on August 11th (next Wednesday). Infant/toddler, preschool, and Jr K orientation will be at 5 pm, and Elementary/Middle at 6:30. Our registered families will receive an email with Zoom links. If you aren’t yet registered but would like to attend, please contact Dr. Nykwest at rnykwest@princewilliamacademy.com. While we will be returning to some normalcy at school–specials will be in the building again, and students will eat in the cafeteria–we will be maintaining many of the safety protocols we put in place last year. Masks will remain mandatory for all students ages 4 and above, and no one other than students and staff will be allowed in the building except under special circumstances. Our protocols were a big part of a successful 2020-2021 school year, and we will stay vigilant so that we can safely remain open for our students and school families.

Along with expanding enrollment, we’re growing our team of teachers and administrators. Incoming parents will soon meet our talented team of teachers. We’re also joined this year by Mr. Raymel Menefee, who has come on board as our Director. Mr. Menefee brings with him years of experience as an administrator, principal, regional director, and teacher, and is already a wonderful addition to our admin team. If you see him around at drop-off or dismissal, be sure to say hello! We’re delighted to have him with us.

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you on Zoom for orientation night!
On water play days, please be sure to send your students to school with a bathing suit, towel, and shoes that can get wet. Don’t forget to include a wet bag to send their items home in! Please label all items with your child’s name.

K, 1st, 2nd, and middle school have water play on Monday.

3rd and 4th have water play on Friday.

Preschoolers (ages 2-4) have water play on Wednesday.

Please be advised that in order to administer sunscreen, we must have written permission from a parent. You’ll find the form below.
Each week we include this information for newcomers: Below you’ll find some important information about our Summer Enrichment Program:

According to VA regulations, all children ages 5 and up must wear a mask at school and camp. Teachers and school staff must also wear a mask at all times indoors, regardless of vaccination status. We ask that you send your children to school and camp wearing a mask, and with an extra in their bag.

Drop-off time for preschool remains the same as always–8:30 am. However, preschoolers may now be dropped off at the front door! Pickup time is 3:00 pm, also at the front door.

Drop off for our elementary and middle campers is at 9 am at the side door. You’ll see an attendant there between 8:55 and 9:15 am. Pickup for our campers is 4:00 pm. After 4:15, we close the door and late campers go to aftercare. After-care campers may be picked up at the front door, or from the playground, if they are outside.

Each morning, our elementary and middle students will work on enrichment and advancement in language arts and math. In the afternoons, we’ll have water play, field trips (grades 1 and above), arts and crafts, cooking projects, and lots of fun on our playground and in our gym. Our preschoolers will also follow our themes and will have water days as well. Your child’s teacher will let you know which days those will be.

Our camp calendars will be included in the email each week. Please note that activities and field trips are subject to change, depending on weather and health conditions.

Each week, you’ll find our lunch menu below, as well as our lunch packet. Lunches should be purchased in advance and may be purchased in quantities from 10 lunches to the full month. For elementary and middle students, tuition is due each Monday for the week, and lunches may be paid at that time as well. Payment can be made through automatic withdrawal or by check or credit/debit card.
