Lots of love at PWA! We had a wonderful week at PWA. We had beautiful weather most days and lots of opportunities to get outside.
We held our first Citizen Scholar Awards of the year, recognizing students for their kindness. We held the awards ceremony in person for the first time since 2020, and it felt great! As part of the Citizen Scholar Awards program, each month we discuss a specific virtue and talk about not only how to cultivate it in ourselves, but about how we recognize and appreciate it in others as well. You’ll find lots of great pictures of the ceremony and our award recipients below.
October is always a busy time at PWA! We have our picture days coming up (more info below) and we close out the month with our annual Fall Festival. We’ll be talking about the Fall Festival at the first PTC Meeting of the year, which will be held this Thursday, October 6th at 5:30 pm. You’ll find the link below, and we hope you’ll join us! We will send out the call for parent volunteers for the Fall Festival later this month.
A gentle reminder to all families that kindergarten, elementary, and middle school start at 8:15, and preschool and Jr K start at 8:30. K-8 students who arrive after 8:15 need to enter through the front door.
COVID is finally loosening its grip on schools around the country, and this is great news for students, teachers, and parents alike. The post-pandemic economy is posing new challenges, however–especially for schools. Thankfully, PWA is not in the dire straits that many public schools are facing right now, without enough teachers to meet students’ needs. We are very fortunate to have a strong team of teachers throughout the school who do amazing work every day. We do have vacant positions that we’ve been trying hard to fill, however, and it has been much more difficult to find candidates than in the past. We are currently seeking substitute and classroom teachers, as well as a music teacher. If you know a qualified individual who might be interested in joining our fantastic team, please spread the word and encourage them to email the office or give us a call!
