Week 6
Even if it doesn’t feel like it yet, fall is here! The students enjoyed lots of time outside on the playground and field this week; our middle schoolers even got in a game of football!
Our after school specials are starting up, and we have some exciting ones, including basketball and yoga! We’ll also play host to a wonderful young entrepreneurs’ workshop on October 10th that we hope all our students ages 9 and above will join! See below for details on all our after school activities.
Meanwhile, the rest of our specials and languages will get underway on Monday! PE has been going since the beginning of the school year, and Art started this week–next week we’ll kick off Music (with new teacher Debra Kay Robinson Lindsay–see below) along with Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin.
Parents of students Jr K and above–if you haven’t made a language selection between Mandarin and Arabic yet, please let the office know your preference.

On Thursday, October 10, Innovate FunBiz Academy will host an amazing two-hour workshop for kids ages 9 to 13 that will teach them the basics of business! Students will design, build, and then market, their own airplanes, and talk about what it takes to launch a product from start to finish. Please see the flyer below. The cost is $35 for the two-hour workshop, which runs from 4-6 pm. Please feel free to share this event with friends from outside PWA!

We are delighted to announce that Debra Kay Robinson Lindsay has joined our staff as our new Music Teacher! Mrs. Lindsay is an award-winning teacher, author, and musician who recently retired after 45 years with Alexandria and Fairfax public schools. We’re so pleased to have her with us at PWA.

Parents are encouraged to purchase lunch packets rather than single lunches–the price per lunch drops when you buy more at a time. If you want to purchase daily lunch for your child, the total cost is $80 per month.
