Week 4

Dear PWA Families,

Our fourth week of school was a short one but packed with activities. Students jumped back in on Tuesday ready to learn! We welcomed several new students, and also kicked off our distance learning support program.

Next week, we’ll celebrate International Dot Day on Tuesday (Sept. 15th). Students may wear dots to school that day, and they’ll do themed art projects with Mrs. Cox, our art teacher.

In their classes, many of our students read and talked about the events of September 11th, 2001, and teachers and staff shared their memories and recollections of that horrible day. We honor the legacies of all those we lost nineteen years ago today.

We hope you have a peaceful and happy weekend, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.

On Tuesday, September 15th, we’ll observe International Dot Day with our students. This day is meant to celebrate creativity and self-expression and is inspired by a book, The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds. Copies of this book can be found in our classrooms.

That Tuesday, students may wear dots (polka or otherwise) to school, and our fabulous art teacher Mrs. Cox will do related art projects with each class.

Our current lunch menu and lunch packets can always be found in the buttons at the end of each weekly email. The lunch menu is also directly below.

If you send your child to school with lunch, please remember that we are an entirely nut-free school.

The 30-day grace period for getting a school physical is almost up…so if your child hasn’t gotten one yet, now is the time! Please contact the office if you have any questions. You’ll find the school entrance health form in the links at the bottom of this email.

Please help us spread the word about our Distance Learning Support Program! We have space available for elementary and middle school students to do their PWCS (or PWA Online) work here at our school. Students are supervised and assisted by a teacher who helps them get online, maintain their schedules, and do their school- and homework. PWA provides lunch, recess, and other fun activities throughout the day. If you know parents who need a safe, secure, and welcoming place for their children during the workday, please let them know about us!
