Week 10
Jr K sack race at our Fall Festival today
The kids had a great time at our Fall Festival today! We had a bounce house for all ages, a pumpkin patch, relay races and games, face painting, bowling, and arts and crafts. We took lots of fun pictures, so be sure to check them out below.
We’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to the many parents who donated time, food, and supplies for today’s festivities. We had wonderful parent volunteers overseeing the stations today, and received a big donation of apples from the Adkins family. Ms. Farish painted faces all day, with incredible results. Thank you all so much!
We’d also like to thank parents who came in to read to their children’s classes this week. Special thanks to Samar Omeish, who kicked off our school’s new health initiative with a visit to our kindergartners. The students joined the two bite club by trying two bites of new veggies and fruits.
We have quite a few events coming up next week. Our upper grades will take a field trip on Monday to Manassas Battlefield. And our school picture day takes place on Wednesday, October 30. Please make sure your Jr K – 8th graders are in uniforms. And, of course, who could forget Halloween! Students may wear their costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st.
Our Yankee Candle Fundraiser continues–you have until November 8th to turn in catalog orders, but online sales will go through the holidays. Yankee Candle is more than just candles, and it’s loaded with great gift ideas. Please take a look, and spread the word! All proceeds from our fundraiser go towards technology enhancement at PWA.
May your children sleep well tonight–we certainly wore them out today! Have a great weekend, PWA families.
November 4th is parent/teacher conference day. We will be closed for school, but open for child care, and parents are invited to come in and speak one-on-one with their child’s teacher. Teachers will have sign-up sheets available outside their classroom doors, or will reach out to parents to make arrangements for a meeting time. We hope to see you there!
Report cards will be available on Chalkable on November 6th. More information on this in next week’s newsletter.
School photo day is coming! School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October 30th.* Students should wear their school uniforms.

Tuesday/Thursday students may come for pictures; ask your child’s teacher what time they should be here. Or they can have their pictures taken on Make-up picture day, which will be Tuesday, November 19th.
Our PTC Yankee Candle Fundraiser is in full swing! You will have received order forms in your child’s backpack that you can use to place your own orders, or get orders from friends and family members in support of our school. Those forms should be returned to your child’s teacher or the front office by November 8th. Please make checks payable to “Prince William Academy.” Items will be shipped to the school for distribution before the holidays.
You can also place your order through our school’s store on the Yankee Candle website here:
https://www.yankeecandlefundraising.com/store.htm. Online orders are payable to Yankee Candle, and are shipped directly to you.
Thank you for your support! All proceeds go towards enhancing technology at PWA.

This week, I had the privilege and honor of sitting down with 20 kindergartners to teach them about how we fill our plates. It was a hungry crowd and we had so much fun learning about the different food groups and what many of the foods do for our bodies. They also got to join the TWO BITE CLUB. During lunch we passed around fruits and veggies for them to try. They each got a certificate at the end to join the club! My goal is to encourage kids to start healthy eating habits from a young age. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share with your children!
The October menu is here (https://gallery.mailchimp.com/5cce73ca32dfe2648ffe00182/files/6b0e9cb4-b311-411c-a015-ece9f7f76507/OCTOBER_2019_MENU.docx) , and can also be found in the buttons at the end of this email, along with school lunch packet forms.
Parents are encouraged to purchase lunch packets rather than single lunches–the price per lunch drops when you buy more at a time. If you want to purchase daily lunch for your child, the total cost is $80 per month.
Spotted at school this week…
So much cuteness…loads of fun at our annual Fall Festival!
