Week 21
Welcome back to school, everyone! We spent the week getting back into the swing of things after the break, and contending with some treacherous weather. We hope you’re all receiving our texts and emails regarding changes to our schedules. If you’re not, please see the front desk, and be sure to sign up for this year’s text message alert system. We have several after school activities starting up this week and next, including piano lessons and Tuesday art club with our own Mrs. Cox. Please see below for more details.
International Month is underway at PWA, and it’s one of our favorite times of the year! Each classroom selects a country to study throughout January. Students will learn songs, do research, and craft presentations about their chosen country. On International Day–January 31st–students will visit each “country” to see presentations and performances, sample foods, get their PWA passports stamped, and learn new facts about the world. Parents are invited to attend our International Day celebrations; we’ll provide more information as the date approaches. In the meantime, teachers may ask for parents’ assistance with preparations, including decorations or providing food on International Day. Please let your child’s teacher know if you’d like to help out.

Our own very talented art teacher, Stephanie Cox, is starting an after school art program for students in 4th – 8th grade! The club will meet on Tuesdays from 3:45 – 4:45, and the cost is $65 every four weeks. Students will explore different mediums and subjects, including architectural drawing, fashion design, flora and fauna, and more. This is a great opportunity to nurture creativity and get individualized lessons from Mrs. Cox! Please email her at

Former PWA parent and current high school teacher David Patterson is offering piano lessons after school at PWA! Lessons are available for students aged 4 and above, and can be group lessons or private. Please see flyer below for more details! After two years of commuting all the way from Culpeper to be here each day, Ms. Pam has decided to take a position much closer to home. Friday, June 17th will be her last day with us before she starts her new job at a school in Culpeper. We will miss her so much, but we know this isn’t goodbye. She’ll always be a part of our PWA family!

The sweetest little faces…siblings in matching sweaters…train talk…crafts and construction…making the most of the snow…learning about Jamaica for International Month…math manipulatives…friendly competition…keyboarding class.

January 6-31 INTERNATIONAL MONTH
January 20: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observed. No School or Childcare
January 24: End of Second Grading period. Regular school day.
January 27th: Teacher Workday. No school; childcare is available
January 29th: 100th Day of School!
January 31st: International Day
