Week 28
Was that…snow…we saw today?! Just as the first spring flowers have poked through the soil in PWA’s gardens…
Next week will be a fun one–it’s National Read Across America Week! Each day has a theme, and students will have opportunities to dress up, and to share some of their favorite books. All students are encouraged to bring in books they love! On Monday, students may wear shirts from a place they’ve visited, or a place they’d like to visit one day.
Our Girls on the Run registration drive continues, and we’re encouraged by all the interest! We just need a few more girls to join to have a full team. If you’re interested, please let the office know.
Just a reminder that, although Monday is a teacher workday in county schools, we are open. We’re also open on Tuesday, when some schools are closing for the primaries.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!
Please see below for our most recent statement concerning the coronavirus. PWA will follow all recommendations from the CDC and the VA Department of Health, and we are monitoring the news as well as our student population closely. In the meantime, frequent hand washing and tried-and-true measures like covering coughs and sneezes and sanitizing surfaces can help keep the bugs going around this time of year at bay.
We will continue to monitor all local reports concerning the coronavirus, and update our policies as needed.

PWA is putting together a Girls on the Run team this year, with Mrs. Acosta as our coach! We have extended registration through next week. This program is available to girls in grades 3-8, and is a great way to get them active, and instill self-confidence and perseverance. Please click on the link below to register at their website. We need at least 8 students to form a team. Practices will be held twice weekly directly after school. Your daughter does not need to be a PWA student to join!

Meal Planning
The stress of feeding your family during a busy school/work week can be huge. Here are a few ideas that can help alleviate some of that stress.
Think ahead. Spending 20 minutes or less during the weekend to make a list of meals for each day of the upcoming week can give you a jump start and allow you to get the groceries needed for your daily meals.
Always keep certain foods on hand that allow you to put together a healthy meal. Examples include whole grain pasta, brown rice, lentils, eggs, meats, potatoes, beans, fruits, veggies, spices etc.
Repeating the same grain, protein or veggie is OK! Using chicken with brown rice and veggies on Monday can translate to slices of chicken with a salad on Thursday. It allows you to consolidate the amount of time prepping your meals when you can cook the same thing for two days but have the meals be different.
During the busy days weekdays, plan a simple, quick fix meal. This might include keeping on hand pre-cut, frozen or canned veggies, bagged salads, shredded cheese or canned beans.
I hope you find these tips helpful. Any questions, comments or feedback, feel free to reach me at purebeingsllc@gmail.com (mailto:purebeingsllc@gmail.com)
Happy Meal Prepping!
