Week 27

We hope you all enjoyed the three-day weekend! The kids came back to school ready to roll, and we had a great week.

In the elementary and middle school, students are busy working on their ideas for the Science Fair in April. By now, students should have a proposal for their projects, and should be thinking about how they’ll do their experiements. Please remember that parents are asked to initial the packet as each assignment comes due. If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher.

Our preschoolers enjoyed lots of arts and crafts this week, and even got some time outside. Our Jr Kindergartners built log cabins in honor of Lincoln’s birthday. See below for pictures!

The week of March 2-6 is National Read Across America Week, and we look forward to celebrating here at school with fun themes and activities, and lots of reading! A list of our daily themes is below; the week includes special dress-up days, and days where students can bring in some of their favorite books to share.

Our Girls on the Run signup is still going on–it’s a great program for girls in grades 3 and up. The students will meet and run together two days per week, with the goal of participating in a 5k in the spring! If you’re interested, please see below for signup information.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
PWA is putting together a Girls on the Run team this year, with Mrs. Acosta as our coach! Registration runs through February 25th, with practices starting in March. This program is available to girls in grades 3-8, and is a great way to get them active, and instill self-confidence and perseverance. Please click on the link below to register at their website. We need at least 8 students to form a team. Practices will be held twice weekly directly after school.

Here’s a delicious recipe using quinoa instead of rice! Quinoa is a wonderful source of protein, and it cooks even faster than rice.
