Week 18
We had a very busy week at PWA, packed with activities and lessons in preparation for some time off over the winter break. And winter break is now upon us!
Of course, PWA remains open year round, and we’ll be here over the break. If you’d like to sign up for childcare during that time, but haven’t yet done so, please call the office on Monday. See below for more information.
Thanks to all of you who attended our Winter Concert this year. The kids didn’t get a lot of practice time leading up to the show, but they still did remarkably well! It was great to see our older students playing recorders and glockenspiels. Big thanks to Mrs. Lindsay for a job well done!
Thanks also to all of you who donated to our teacher gift card drive, gave food for the food drive, or dropped off gifts for teachers and staff. We appreciate your kindness! Special thanks to Nicole Adkins and Genese Rogers from the PTC, who distributed the gift cards to the teachers and made it a festive and fun event.
2020 promises to be a great year, and we’re so glad we’ll be sharing it with your children. From all of us at PWA to all of you–have a wonderful holiday season, and a very happy New Year! We look forward to seeing some of you next week, and the rest of you in 2020!

After school enrichment activities start up again in January, and this year we’ll have Basketball, Floor Hockey, and table top and board games! We’re also featuring a sensory art experience for children ages 3-5. See flyers below for more details, including how to sign up.

Former PWA parent and current high school teacher David Patterson is offering piano lessons after school at PWA! Lessons are available for students aged 4 and above, and can be group lessons or private. Please see flyer below for more details! Our own very talented art teacher, Stephanie Cox, is starting an after school art program for students in 4th – 8th grade! The club will meet on Tuesdays from 3:45 – 4:45, and the cost is $65 every four weeks. Students will explore different mediums and subjects, including architectural drawing, fashion design, flora and fauna, and more. This is a great opportunity to nurture creativity and get individualized lessons from Mrs. Cox! Please email her at

Please give the school a call next week if you decide you’d like to bring your student. The cost of our winter break camp is as follows:
Students enrolled in both before and aftercare: No charge
Students enrolled in either before or aftercare: $30 per day
Students not enrolled in extended care, or students from other schools: $50 per day
The drop in rate is $75 per day, so sign up early if you’ll need child care! We are open from 6 – 6:30 every day of the break except for Christmas and New Year’s Day, when we’ll be closed. On December 24th and 31st, we close at 4 pm.

Please note that this menu has changed! Lunch on December 27th will be Turkey Salad Sandwiches.

January 6: School Reopens
January 6-31 INTERNATIONAL MONTH
January 20: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observed. No School or Childcare
January 24: End of Second Grading period. Regular school day.
January 27th: Teacher Workday. No school; childcare is available
January 29th: 100th Day of School!
January 31st: International Day
