Week 2
Dear PWA Families,
We had a terrific second week of school at PWA. We’re all getting to know one another, and the classrooms are settling into their routines. It has been a joy to watch the students grow more comfortable here each day.
We had our first fire drill of the year today (as your children will likely tell you!) and it went very smoothly. The kids did an excellent job exiting the building and following our protocols. We did it in the morning before it got too hot, and so we got to spend a few minutes enjoying a socially-distanced, whole-school gathering on our playing field.
We will hold our virtual Back-to-School night in sessions on Tuesday, September 1st and Thursday, September 3rd. You’ll find more details below, but you’ll receive an invitation with a Zoom link specific to your child’s classroom from the teacher, so please be on the lookout for that! We look forward to seeing you there.
Have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!
We will hold our first-ever virtual Elementary Back-to-School night(s) on Tuesday and Thursday of next week. Please be on the lookout for an email from your child’s teacher with information specific to their class. In the meantime, the schedule is below to help you plan accordingly.
We are preparing a video presentation for our infant and toddler, and 2s and 3s preschool families that we’ll send out Friday of next week.

At PWA, we’ve always taken pride in our landscaping and gardens. In normal times, we have a thriving vegetable and herb garden and beautiful flowers, and we hold a School Beautification Day each spring to plant more. But like so much else during these crazy times, our landscaping suffered while we were closed for several months, and other priorities have occupied our attention since then.
But the time has come to focus on our gardens and lawns again, and so we’re reaching out to you for assistance. One of our school parents, Mrs. Leopold, has offered to organize a gardening event for next Wednesday, September 2nd, from 4-5:30 pm. If you’d like to participate, please bring your gloves and tools–weed whackers, shears, trowels, rakes–even lawn mowers are welcome. We appreciate any and all assistance, and we’re grateful to Mrs. Leopold for her suggestion–and for the new plants she has already brought!
Our current lunch menu and lunch packets can always be found in the buttons at the end of each weekly email.
If you send your child to school with lunch, please remember that we are an entirely nut-free school.
