Weekly Family Email
August 23, 2019
Week 1
Welcome parents, guardians, and grandparents, to the 2019-2020 school year! We’ve had a wonderful week of welcoming back familiar faces, and meeting our newest community members. Whether you are a new or returning family, we’re so happy that you’ve chosen PWA this year, and we’re thrilled to have you with us.
Every week, you’ll receive an update from the office–a weekly family email. This email contains valuable information regarding upcoming events, important need-to-know details, forms, calendars, menus, and more. This email also contains photos from the week, and showcases exciting goings-on with our students. We use these emails to pass along important info–so please be sure to check it out each week.
Our teachers spent the week getting to know their students and assessing skills. Next week, they’ll jump right into their work! Elementary and middle parents should be prepared for homework going forward; homework comes in a packet at the end of each week, to be turned in the following Friday.
If you ever have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the office, or Dr. Nykwest. We’re always happy to hear from you, and to answer any questions you might have. We love to get to know our PWA families, so don’t be a stranger!
We hope you’ve all enjoyed your first week as part of the PWA community, and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
Below you’ll find a link to the school calendar for the 2019-2020 school year. This calendar is subject to change on occasion as we add dates in for events. So be sure to check it regularly!

Big thanks to our amazing Parent Teacher Council (PTC) who used the funds they raised during our technology drive last year to purchase three brand new laptops, a Microsoft Office bundle, and warranties for all three computers. The computers will be placed in classrooms and used by our students. We are so grateful to have such wonderful PTC parents–and if you’d like to become one yourself, we hope you’ll join us! Stay tuned for meeting information later next month…
Dear Parents: Please be advised that we must have your child’s updated physical form within 30 days of their start at school. All physicals must be updated annually.
We must have immunization records when your child starts school.
All preschool parents must provide updated immunization forms as the immunizations take place. All children under two must have updated immunization forms every six months.
Please find the Virginia Health Form attached below, and contact the office if you have any questions about physicals or when they need to be done.
