June is here! For many of you, it means two weeks of school left until summer. For others, it means your student will soon be moving up the next level of preschool. For still others, June is a month like any other, and not much will change! The next month will be full of transitions, as well as consistency. We do it all here at PWA! And we’re so thankful to have your children with us on this journey.
Testing is wrapping up in the elementary and middle school, and the students are continuing to review major concepts. In the elementary and middle schools, students are also preparing for their upcoming performance next week, on June 6th (see below).
Our Scholastic book fair kicks off on Monday! Stop by our store, located in the preschool hall on the top floor of the school, where you’ll find books, gifts, and more! Also, be sure to stop by on Monday between 3 and 4 pm for a book signing event with PWA’s own Devyn Goddard! See below for more information.
On Friday, June 7th, join Dr. Nykwest for the final Coffee with the Principal of the year. She’ll set up outside if it’s nice (and in the front office if it’s not) with coffee and breakfast items, starting at 7:30 am.
And then…it’s the last week of the regular school year! Those of you in the preschool will continue on, though if your child is of age, they’ll be moving up to the next level. Those of you in the middle and elementary school will be done for the summer! Though we’re delighted that we’ll see many of you over the summer–for our art camps, math camps, or our regular camp, which features academics in the mornings and fun camp activities in the afternoons. The 1st – 8th grade students invite you to join them for an evening performance! On Thursday, June 6th at 5:00 pm, our students will perform on musical instruments, including recorders and bucket drums. They’ll also be reciting some Shakespeare! We look forward to seeing you there.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is here! This year’s Book Fair runs from June 3rd – June 14th, and provides a great opportunity to stock up on summer reading, birthday gifts, and more. We’ll have more info posted around the school shortly.
On Monday, June 3rd from 3 – 4 pm, we’ll be holding a very special book signing event by our own resident author, kindergartner Devyn Goddard! Copies of her delightful book, If My Family Lived in the Ocean, will be available during the Book Fair, and may also be purchased

Join Dr. Nykwest for Coffee with the Principal on Friday, June 7th, from 7:30 – 9:00 am. This is a great chance to chat with her about how you feel the school year has gone so far!
Enrollment is in full swing for PWA’s Summer Enrichment Program! All campers (rising K through rising 8th grade) work on core academic subjects in the mornings, from 9 to 12, to reinforce learning from the previous school year and give them a jump-start on the school year ahead. Afternoons are full of fun and exciting events and activities. Campers go swimming each week, take field trips to area sites and attractions, visit Fantasy Park, and enjoy a wide variety of in-house shows and events. We’re also offering two special weeks of Art Camp this summer (rising K and up), with our own Ms. Cox!

The 2019-2020 school year will be here before we know it! Take some of the hassle out of back-to-school planning by ordering all of your child’s school supplies with one click! Kits will be delivered directly to your child’s classroom for the first day of school.
