Weekly Family Email
Week 32
March 29th, 2019

We had a full and exciting week here at PWA. We’ve gotten to see many of you more often than usual, which has been lovely! We’ll be here again tomorrow for the special PTC Pancake Breakfast, and we hope you’ll join us, too!

Our Jr K – 8th grade Spring Concert took place on Thursday evening. All of our young performers were terrific, and we’re so grateful to Ms. Noh for putting it all together. She did an amazing job, as always. Today, we held our Spelling Bee Club awards for grades 1 and up, and we’d like to thank all of our elementary and middle teachers for their help over the past months preparing the students and helping them learn 100 words (from which 50 were chosen for the test). Big thanks to Ms. Jumana for her work coordinating the Spelling Bee Club each year.

Hopefully you’ve seen our notices that Monday, April 1st IS a school day! We’re making up a snow day.

Next week, Science Fair reports and experiments are due in the elementary/middle school, and students may work on their boards in class, depending on their teacher’s plans. Please check with your child’s teacher; boards are due by April 9th.

Spring Break is nearing, and if you’ll need care for your child, you can find it here at PWA! We’ll have a sign-up sheet out front next week, so please add your child’s name if you plan for them to be here that week.

Also, it’s time to start thinking about summer! You’ll find our summer camp flyer and camp rates attached below. We do academics in the morning to combat summer learning loss, and fun camp activities in the afternoons.  Our summer enrichment camp is accredited by the American Camp Association. Please contact the office for more information.

We hope we’ll see many of you at the Pancake Breakfast tomorrow! Have a wonderful weekend.

The PTC Pancake Breakfast is tomorrow!!

Join us on Saturday, March 30th in the school gym between 9:30 and 11:30 am for a home-cooked pancake breakfast! Tickets are $5.00 each, and that $5.00 gets you two pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and a cup of coffee or juice. A great deal, and a great way to help the PTC close out its technology fundraising drive for the year!

We look forward to seeing you there!

This year’s flu season seems to be lasting longer than usual, and unfortunately we now have three confirmed cases of influenza in our preschool. While we always work hard to keep rooms, toys, and surfaces sanitized, and encourage frequent hand washing, kids tend to spread things directly to one another. If your child, or anyone in your household, has been diagnosed with the flu, please keep them home, and notify us right away of the diagnosis. Also, please make sure children are fever- and symptom-free for a full 24 hours (without the aid of medication) before bringing them back to school.

Congratulations to all our Super Spellers in grades 1 – 7 who participated in this year’s Spelling Bee Club. You all did a fantastic job, and we’re so proud of you. Thank you, parents, for joining us today, and for providing refreshments.

Special thanks to Ceylin DeHerrera’s family for providing two beautiful cakes!
Big thanks to the fantastic Ms. Noh, our Jr k – 8th grade teachers, and our amazing students for their delightful performances Thursday night. We hope those of you who attended enjoyed the show!
Attention: Monday, April 1st will be a regular school day!

Students should have their science experiments completed and reports written by Monday! Boards should be completed by April 9th; please check with your child’s teacher about whether or not they’ll work on it in class.

We are still in need of volunteers to serve as judges for the Science Fair. If you don’t have a student on the elementary side, and have an interest in science, please consider signing up to be a judge!

Stephanie Cox, our fabulous art teacher, has put together a survey to ask parents their opinion on art classes, and to gauge interest in after school art activities and our upcoming art camps this summer. If your child is a rising Jr K student or older, please take a moment to give Ms. Cox some feedback! She’s been doing wonderfully fun and creative projects with the students this year, and we’re thankful to have her at PWA.
