Weekly PWA Family Email
Week 30
March 15th, 2019
Spring is almost here! Flowers are blooming, the air is warm and sweet, and we’re making the most of it here at school after too many cold days indoors. All of our students enjoyed time outside this week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, our elementary students took a field trip to the Apple store in Stonebridge for drawing and coding classes, and had a wonderful time. Several upper grades also got to walk over to our local dollar store and 7-11 as a reward for stellar performances on their math tests.
The science fair experiment process is underway, and experiments should be completed by March 25th! More details below.
We are looking for parent volunteers from the preschool side to serve as judges of the science fair! If you’re interested, please contact Dr. Nykwest. The job involves judging the presentation boards from grades 2 and above, and selecting the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners in each age group.
The PTC’s pancake breakfast fundraiser is coming soon! Join us in the PWA gym on Saturday, March 23rd between 9:30 and 11:30 for a delicious breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and fruit, cooked with love by PTC family volunteers. Please see below for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!
Attention: Monday, April 1st will be a regular school day!
Our PTC Fundraising thermometer went up some this week! The Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on the 23rd will be our final big fundraising push of the year (though spirit nights will continue), and we hope you’ll bring the whole family out that morning for some delicious food here at the school! After the event, we’ll be putting our fundraising dollars towards new computers for classrooms.
The PTC also voted at this week’s meeting to contribute funds towards PWA’s first annual 8th grade trip. The three students who make up PWA’s inaugural 8th grade class deserve something special, so we’re sending them to King’s Dominion! We hope they make lots of happy memories together that day.
Our Science Fair packets have gone home, and students should complete their experiments within the packets. Experiments should be complete by March 25th!
Come get your pancake on! On March 23rd, the PTC is hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser here at the school! The breakfast happens between 9:30 and 11:30 am in the school gym. A plate is just $5, so bring the whole family!

Stephanie Cox, our fabulous art teacher, has put together a survey to ask parents their opinion on art classes, and to gauge interest in after school art activities and our upcoming art camps this summer. If your child is a rising Jr K student or older, please take a moment to give Ms. Cox some feedback! She’s been doing wonderfully fun and creative projects with the students this year, and we’re thankful to have her at PWA.
