Week 42
June 7th, 2019
Almost middle schoolers!
Well, here we are–about to embark upon the final week of the 2018-2019 school year! In some ways, this year has flown by; in others, September feels like a very long time ago. The students have all changed in countless ways this year, and it has been our great pleasure to play a part in their growth.
Our final week of the school year will be a busy one! On Tuesday, our Kindergartners will have their graduation ceremony, and our 5th graders will celebrate impending middle-schooler status with a trip to Chinn Aquatic Center. On Wednesday, our 8th graders will go to King’s Dominion, a trip they’ll be taking courtesy of our wonderful PTC! Then on Friday, June 14th we’ll have our 8th grade graduation ceremony at 10 am. We’ll also have our Father’s Day Coffee set up in the morning in the halls, and Field Day, complete with a bouncy house, hot dogs, relay races and fun games, and more. Parents are more than welcome to join us, and we hope to see you there.
Summer camp gets underway on June 17th for our rising K and above. Our preschool continues, but all eligible students will move up to their rising level. This can be a big transition for our rising Jr K students, who will no longer take naps! Please contact the office or your child’s current teacher if you have any questions.
We held our Music and Drama Presentation last night, and we’d like to thank Ms. Noh and Ms. Jones for the work they did in putting it together. The bucket drumming was a huge hit, and it was fun to hear our students play recorder and recite Shakespeare!
PWA will have a booth at the Taste of Woodbridge festival at Stonebridge this Saturday–we hope to see you there!
We look forward to seeing you next week as well for Field Day. In the meantime, have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!
Our Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 11th at 4 pm. We look forward to seeing our kindergarten families there!
Our Middle School Graduation Ceremony will take place on Friday, June 14th at 10 am in the school gym. We are thrilled to be sending our first-ever class of middle schoolers off to high school, and we’ll honor them with an assembly.
Field Day is coming on June 14th! Our preschoolers will enjoy all sorts of fun activities with their classes, and we’ll have relays and games set up for the older students. We’ll also have a bouncy house for kids of all ages! Lunch that day will be hot dogs, and students will have a picnic outside, weather permitting. Parents are more than welcome to join us! We hope to see you there.
If you have PWA uniforms your child has outgrown, please bring them to PWA next week! On field day, we’ll set up a uniform exchange out front, where parents can donate uniforms they no longer need and pick up items that fit! All donations should be in great shape, free of holes or stains. Please bring items to the front office.
We’re putting some changes in place for next year…starting with lockers for our 5th through 8th graders! This bay was installed today, to the delight of our rising 5th grade class.
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be here for the rest of next week! If you haven’t had a chance to stop by, we hope you will. Every dollar spent earns PWA Scholastic dollars to put towards books for our classrooms and library.
Remember too, that PWA student Devyn Goddard’s book is available for sale in the front office!
Summer camp is almost here! PWA’s summer enrichment program is the full package, with loads of opportunities for learning and fun. All campers (rising K through rising 8th grade) work on core academic subjects in the mornings, from 9 to 12, to reinforce learning from the previous school year and give them a jump-start on the school year ahead. Afternoons are full of fun and exciting events and activities. Campers go swimming each week, take field trips to area sites and attractions, visit Fantasy Park, and enjoy a wide variety of in-house shows and events. We’re also offering two special weeks of Art Camp this summer (rising K and up), with our own Ms. Cox!
Registration materials, themes, and rates can be found in the buttons below. Please call the office at 703-491-1444 with any questions.
