Weekly PWA Family Email
Week 22
January 18th, 2019
This was a bit of a wild week! Here’s hoping we’ve seen the last of the inclement weather (or “potential” inclement weather!) for now. In case we haven’t, please remember to sign up for our text message alert system by texting PWA to 33222.
In spite of the snow days and delays, we had a productive week, with classroom visits for our students, and fun class projects. We also talked about and celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in anticipation of Monday’s holiday in his honor.
While our preschool, elementary and middle school students visited their rising classrooms, our inaugural eighth grade class had a visit to Woodbridge High School. We were so proud!
We have an exciting few weeks coming up, with parent classroom visits, as well as a kindergarten information night, scheduled for next week. We’ll also continue with International Month, and begin preparations for a busy February, which will include our Spelling Bee Club, International Day, Valentine’s Day, and our 100th day of school! Stay tuned for more details.
The weather seems undecided for the weekend, so we hope you all stay safe and warm! We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday. And we hope you’ll join us for our Family Lego Night next Friday!
Ms. Kim’s Kindergartners watching Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech.
We will reschedule parents’ visits to rising grade classrooms for Wednesday, January 23rd, between 9-11 am. Feel free to come in and meet your child’s rising grade teachers, check out the classrooms, and sit in on a few minutes of class time!
Jr K parents: Please join us on Friday, January 25th at 5:30 for an informational session on our kindergarten program! Dr. Harris and our Admissions Director, Amanda Pischel, will be on hand to answer any questions you might have, and to discuss the curriculum, daily routines, and what makes our program special. We hope to see you there!
We have fun on snow days around here! Ms. Veronica loves to give cooking lessons.
The PTC will meet next Thursday, January 24th at 5:30 pm at the school. All parents are welcome to join us! We’ll be setting goals for our technology drive, and making plans for future fundraising efforts. We hope to see you there.
The following countries will be represented on International Day at PWA. If you’d like to join the festivities or add a decorative item to one of the display tables, please let us know! We look forward to seeing you all on February 1st for the big celebration!

On Wednesday, our students visited their rising grade classrooms and had a wonderful time meeting the teachers and doing activities. It was a pleasure to watch the students’ excitement! Here are a few pictures from the visits:
Robotics for Little Coders (grades K-2) was incredibly fun this week! Our little coders programmed tiny robots!
There’s still space in both classes, and Minecraft Server Modding (grades 3-5) will start on January 29th. Please see flyer for times and prices.

We couldn’t be prouder of our big kids, Cameron, Tahmid, and Tyler!
