Weekly Family Newsletter November 4, 2022 Week 12
Don’t forget: Daylight Savings time ends this Sunday!
We had an action-packed and fun-filled week at school! It looks like the weather will hold next week, with plenty of sunshine to get us outdoors. We took lots of great pictures this week, which you’ll find at the end of this newsletter.
We closed out the week with progress reports. For those of you who have been at PWA for awhile, you’ll notice that we are no longer using Chalkable. This year, progress reports for infants through kindergarten have been sent via email. They are lengthy, and include our own standards for each subject and the Creative Curriculum Assessment from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which accredits our infant/toddler, preschool, and kindergarten programs. This assessment provides an in-depth overview of milestones and progress made throughout the school year.
For our students in grades 1-8, progress reports were sent home in hard copy. Electronic reports are available by emailing Dr. Nykwest at rnykwest@princewilliamacademy.com
In the link below, you’ll find a copy of our grading scale. We utilize standards for preschool, kindergarten, and our specials through grade 5: BL for Beginning Learner, DL for Developing Learner, and SL for Secure Learner. Students receive letter grades for all subject matter in grades 1 and above, and for specials in middle school.
Parent/teacher conferences (conducted via Zoom) will be arranged for next week, so be on the lookout for sign-up information from your child’s teacher.
We will send our weekly email on Thursday next week, but please be advised that we will be closed for school and childcare on Friday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.
Have a wonderful weekend, PWA families! And enjoy that extra hour of sleep on Sunday! PWA Grading Scale
Thanks to all the families who participated in our Trunk or Treat last week! The event raised over $500 for our PTC’s technology initiative! We are so grateful.
