Week 17
It’s hard to believe that we’ve just finished our 17th week of school, and that we have just one week left before the winter break! Next week promises to be busy, enriching, and lots of fun.
Tomorrow, PWA’s bus will be part of the Tackett’s Mill parade! Students and parents are welcome to ride along–please see below for more details on how to hop on board!
On Wednesday, December 18th, we’ll have our Winter Concert. Jr K and Kindergarten will go on at 4 pm, and 1st through 8th grades will perform at 5 pm. Students will sing holiday songs from many traditions, and even play an instrument or two!
Our teacher gift card drive will also end on Wednesday, so if you haven’t donated a card yet you still have time! We’re accepting gift cards in denominations of $10 or $15 from any popular store or restaurant. Please help make a staff member’s day and donate!
Thursday, December 19th is Ugly Sweater day. Students may wear any “interesting” sweater, holiday-themed or otherwise. We’ll all do our best to take lots of pictures!
Our book fair closes out on December 20th, so it will be here for one more week!
We’ll start our Winter Break the following week, but as always, we’ll be here for childcare should you need it. Please see below for more information–and be sure to sign up in advance if possible!

Our annual Winter Concert takes place on Wednesday, December 18th. Jr K and Kindergarten will perform at 4:00 pm, and 1st – 8th grade go on at 5:00. Students will sing and try their hands at some instruments as well! We hope you’ll join us.
If you know someone who might be looking for a school like ours, please share the news that we’re having an open house tomorrow, December 14th, from 10 am until 1 pm. Families are welcome to stop by, tour the school, and pick up information about our programs.
New families often tell us that they heard about PWA from a friend–word of mouth and your faith in us are by far our best advertisements! And when you refer a family to us who enrolls, we give back with a $200 referral credit to your child’s account! We appreciate all you do to help spread the word about PWA.
Join us tomorrow, December 14th, for the Winter Wonderland event at Tackett’s Mill, and represent PWA by riding our bus during the parade!
Participants may arrive at PWA between 9:45 and 10:00 am, and hop on the bus here. The parade will be over by 12, and the bus will return to the school. If you’d rather meet the bus at the event, you’ll find it at 10:30 am in the staging area on Minnieville Rd, across from Lidl.

PWA middle-school student Benjamin Bedio and his family have organized a food drive to benefit local families in need this holiday season. We’ve placed a big white box by the main doors to collect boxes and cans of food, and we hope you’ll donate to this worthy cause.
After school enrichment activities start up again in January, and this year we’ll have Basketball, Floor Hockey, and table top and board games! We’re also featuring a sensory art experience for children ages 3-5. See flyers below for more details, including how to sign up.

Former PWA parent and current high school teacher David Patterson is offering piano lessons after school at PWA! Lessons are available for students aged 4 and above, and can be group lessons or private. Please see flyer below for more details! Our own very talented art teacher, Stephanie Cox, is starting an after school art program for students in 4th – 8th grade! The club will meet on Tuesdays from 3:45 – 4:45, and the cost is $65 every four weeks. Students will explore different mediums and subjects, including architectural drawing, fashion design, flora and fauna, and more. This is a great opportunity to nurture creativity and get individualized lessons from Mrs. Cox! Please email her at

On Thursday, December 19th, break out the kids’ ugliest sweaters for Ugly Sweater Day! Sweaters can be holiday themed, but don’t have to be. Any ugly sweater will do!
Our students surprised Ms. Pam with birthday cards and lots of love today. Happy birthday to you, Pam!
Please don’t forget to sign up at the front desk if you would like to bring your students to PWA over the winter break for activities and fun. The cost of our winter break camp is as follows:
Students enrolled in both before and aftercare: No charge
Students enrolled in either before or aftercare: $30 per day
Students not enrolled in extended care, or students from other schools: $50 per day
The drop in rate is $75 per day, so sign up early if you’ll need child care! We are open from 6 – 6:30 every day of the break except for Christmas and New Year’s Day, when we’ll be closed. On December 24th and 31st, we close at 4 pm.
The Scholastic Book Fair is now open, and runs until December 20th. You’ll find our store in the preschool wing.
Need to do some last minute holiday shopping? Our Yankee Candle Fundraiser is continuing until January! Our annual gift card drive is closing out on December 18th, and we still need more cards to ensure all our teachers and staff get one! Please donate a card from a popular store or restaurant in increments of $10 or $15 and help make our staff breakfast a memorable occasion for the people who fill the school with love!

Parents are encouraged to purchase lunch packets rather than single lunches–the price per lunch drops when you buy more at a time. If you want to purchase daily lunch for your child, the total cost is $80 per month.
