Week 6

Happy Fall, PWA families! This week was lovely, with fall-like temps and lots of opportunities for students to get outdoors.

Our first PTC meeting of the year is set for September 30th at 5:30 pm, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you there! Our PTC helps with fundraising and special events for our teachers and students, and it’s a great way to get to know other school families.

We also have news regarding free Covid testing here at school. Testing will be available starting in October, and you’ll find more information below.

Over the next week, we’ll be reaching out to families to help us ensure that your child’s file is completely up-to-date. Please ensure that you update their health records anytime they receive a new vaccination or a physical. Students in K and above need a new physical every year, so if you haven’t had one for your elementary student in the past 12 months, now is the time! Please let us know if you have questions regarding what we require for our files.

Fall is here! Stay tuned for lots of fun activities coming up in the month of October (including our annual Fall Festival). In the meantime, please be sure your child has a sweater in their backpack for those suddenly brisk fall days.

Have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!

We’re excited to share the news that we’ve partnered with Affinity testing to provide frequent, no-cost Covid-19 testing here at the school for children ages 3 and up. We’re working on being able to provide this service for children younger than 3 as well, and will be reaching out to parents involved in the medical field who might be able to assist with this. The program will take a couple of weeks to set up, and we expect our first testing date to fall around October 14th. We’ll keep you posted on how to opt your children into the program. This will be a fast, easy, and FREE way to get your child tested for Covid when needed.
Our first PTC meeting of the year will be on September 30th at 5:30 PM at the school! Please reach out to Dr. Nykwest if you’d like to be added to the PTC list.

We love in-class birthday parties at PWA, and parents are always welcome to arrange one with their child’s teacher. We always ask, however, that you avoid sending in cupcakes and other processed sweets. Large amounts of sugar at school (especially in the preschool) invariably prove challenging and interfere with nap time and afternoon activities, and with kids’ ability to focus later in the day. We also have students with allergies to the kinds of food dyes often found in frostings. Instead, please consider hosting a pizza party, and sending in fruit or individual snack bags. Thank you!
