Week 25

Adorable centenarians celebrating our 100th day of school!
Week 25 was a busy one–we had snow days, teacher vaccinations, and our 100th day of school. The students managed to make the most of it, and we got lots of great pictures from the week, as you’ll see below. We’re really grateful to be 100 days into this unprecedented school year with your wonderful children.

We’d like to thank George Mason University for their partnership with the health department in working to fill the gaps in teacher vaccinations. They managed to get our staff scheduled and vaccinated within a short time frame, despite major logistical challenges. Those of us who were vaccinated came through with very few side effects aside from sore arms.

February is Black History Month, and we celebrate at school each year with projects, art, music, and history. Be on the lookout for special projects coming home with your students!

It looks like the snow that was threatening this weekend is no longer in the forecast–but just in case, please be sure to sign up for our text message alert system! You’ll find instructions below.

Second-quarter report cards are available in Chalkable. If you need login information, please email the office and we’ll send you instructions and passwords.

Have a wonderful weekend, PWA Families!
The easiest and fastest way for us to relay information about weather-related delays or closures is through our text message alert system. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do! Just text PWAED to 33222 to opt-in.

Mr. Bannerman has returned! We’re so happy to see him back in action, doing the work he loves. We are grateful for the support you have the Bannerman family and our school community through our GoFundMe campaign, and with all your well-wishes. Thank you, PWA families!

It’s Black History Month, and we spend each February at PWA learning about historical figures, artists, musicians, and civil rights pioneers. This year, with the help of our art teacher Stephanie Cox, students will also put together a celebratory art gallery in our elementary hallway.

If you haven’t yet logged into Chalkable, please email the office and let us know. We’ll send you login information. Second-quarter report cards are available for viewing!

Our current lunch menu and lunch packets can always be found in the buttons at the end of each weekly email. The lunch menu is also directly below.

If you send your child to school with lunch, please remember that we are an entirely nut-free school.
