Week 37

Our wonderful Office Manager, Ruth Michaud (aka Mrs. M), enjoying planting with the preschoolers
Here comes May—our last full month of the school year! We’ll pack a lot into that month, including the start of our assessment testing, and wrapping up our curriculum.

Thanks to all who sent in plants for our School Beautification Day! The kids loved getting the chance to pick a spot and put a plant in the ground; we know they’ll love to watch those plants grow, too. We got some lovely pictures from the day, shared below.

Although there’s still a fence to come, our preschool students were able to break in our new playground this week! It looks great, and we’re really happy with the results. We hope our students are, too!

Teacher Appreciation Week starts Monday! We’re very excited, and grateful for our parent volunteers who will be providing fun surprises for our teachers. Our teachers and staff deserve to be showered with love and appreciation for their hard work and dedication to our students–they fill the building with love every day. This is a good chance to show them how much we appreciate everything they do for our children–in the midst of a pandemic, no less! Please feel free to send in little tokens of appreciation with your children, as well.

Kindergarten parents should see below for important information regarding Kindergarten graduation photos, which are scheduled for May 14th. If you haven’t filled out the form or contacted the office, please be sure to do so next week!

School may be wrapping up in 7 weeks, but PWA continues going strong throughout the summer with our Summer Enrichment Program! Our students do academics in the mornings (math and language arts, taught by our amazing teachers) and fun camp activities in the afternoons. Please help us spread the word about our program, including to non-PWA families whose children might need some reinforcement before the start of the upcoming school year. Our school families are always our best advertisement.

Have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!

May 3 – 7 is Teacher Appreciation Week! It’s not to late to contribute a donation to a special treat for our teachers! If you’re interested, please reach out to Dr. Nykwest by clicking here (mailto:rnykwest@princewilliamacademy.com?subject=Teacher%20Appreciation%20Week) .

Kindergarten graduation photos are set for May 14th here at school. The graduation ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 16th, and more details will be forthcoming soon.

Please give your cap and gown order form to the staff member outside either at drop-off or dismissal, or contact the office.

Registration is underway for our summer camp! It starts May 31st for non-PWA students, and on June 21st for PWA students.

Our mission every year is to combat summer learning loss with morning academics that reinforce content from the school year and advance students towards their rising grade level. In the afternoons, we put on fun activities including water play in our sprinklers, sports, field trips (socially distanced) arts and crafts, and more.

If you know any families who might be interested in our program, please help us spread the word. And of course, we hope to see you there!
