Weekly Family Newsletter October 14, 2022 Week 9
PWA teachers unwound after trainings and professional development on Monday with a “paint and sip” activity together! Our school week was abbreviated but packed at PWA! We did science experiments, explored the bounties of fall, and found opportunities for teachers and students alike to make art. On Monday, our teachers had the opportunity for professional development and to prepare for the upcoming end of the quarter, which concludes on October 28th.
October is always a busy month, and we have lots of events coming up. Our picture days will be held on October 20th and 21st. The 21st is a Friday, so please be aware that our elementary and middle students will need to wear their uniforms that day. We’ll send out a reminder next week. We’ll also reach out to parents whose preschool students don’t normally attend on Thursdays to make arrangements for their children to come in for pictures on the 20th.
Our annual fall festival will be held at school on October 28th, and we are seeking volunteers to help run stations including face painting, relay races, moon bounce, pumpkin patch, and more. If you’re interested in volunteering for a shift (either morning or afternoon) please send Dr. Nykwest an email at rnykwest@princewilliamacademy.com. (mailto:rnykwest@princewilliamacademy.com?subject=Volunteering%20for%20Fall%20Festival) Parents will also be invited to attend with their children. Stay tuned for more details coming soon! We’ll also put out a call closer to the date for donations of individually-wrapped snacks, juice boxes, and water bottles to share with the students.
Following the fall festival, we’ll keep the party going with the PTC’s Trunk-or-Treat Spooktacular! Last year’s event was so much fun, and we are looking forward to doing it again on October 28th. Parents will be invited to sign up for a parking spot in the top lot, and decorate the trunks of their cars. Admission will be by donation (sliding scale, with a minimum of $10 per family recommended) and students will be invited to don their costumes and “trick-or-treat” at each trunk. We’ll also award prizes for the best-dressed trunks! We’ll send out specific information about this event next week, but in the meantime mark your calendars!
Have a wonderful weekend, PWA families!
